Do it yourself (DIY) hernia repair instructions: 6 simple steps and $2.50 (without insurance)

Hernia (ignore figure on right as it is unrelated to the DIY method of interest; we won’t be using a mesh; we also won’t be using stitches).
  • If you think you have a hernia, you probably have one. Even if you don’t, this approach may help, just like many of the non-FDA approved supplements.
  • Shave area using shaving cream and a nice razor. I’d recommend not using the complimentary razors at 1-star hotels.
  • Get a 6 inch duct tape pre-cut. There are lots of fun designs to choose from.

  • Gush your guts back into the hole.
  • Apply pressure with a rounded object (mine was a fridge magnet) to hold your guts back in.

  • Tape fast.
  • Bind entire area with more duct tape. Voila! If anything seems loose, use more duct tape.
