This is one of a set of 38 Health and Wellbeing Pro

files for Scottish Community Health Partnerships (C

HPs)*,

published by the Scottish Public Health Observatory

(ScotPHO) collaboration and updating profiles prev

iously

published in 2008. Additional profiles focusing on

the health and wellbeing of children and young peo

ple in

Scotland are also available. All profiles are avail

able on the ScotPHO website at

www.scotpho.org.uk/profiles

.

Our aim is to support health improvement in Scotlan

d by providing clear and relevant information that

will help

service providers, planning teams, policy makers an

d the public make informed decisions to improve hea

lth.

This profile contains:

· A map of the area and demography table

· ‚At a glance™ commentary on the findings for the a

rea

· A spine chart detailing 59 indicators across 10 do

mains

· Time trend and rank charts for eight key indicator

s

· A table of definitions and sources for all indicat

ors

· Details of other Profiles 2010 products.

While there may be additional sources of informatio

n in some local areas, these indicators have the st

rength of

being available in a consistent form for all of Sco

tland, allowing valid comparisons to be made. They

should be

interpreted in the light of local knowledge.

*CHP is used as a global term to refer to all Commu

nity Health Partnerships (CHPs) / Community Health

& Care Partnerships (CHCPs) /

Community Health & Social Care Partnerships (CHSCPs

or CHaSCPs) in Scotland. However, instead of inclu

ding five CHPs for Glasgow City we

have presented the results for three areas, coverin

g Glasgow North East, Glasgow North West and Glasgo

w South. This gives a total of 38

comparator areas for the 2010 Profiles.

These 38 areas nest within 32 councils (local autho

rities) in Scotland. In most cases, the CHP and cou

ncil area are coterminous, but Glasgow, Fife

and Highland Council areas contain a number of CHPs

. Where indicators are unavailable at CHP level, da

ta for the relevant council area are

presented instead.
