1.1 Scope
This standard shall provide the basic principles of and requirements for identifying
and managing the fire and explosion hazards of combustible dusts and particulate solids.

This standard shall provide the user with general requirements and direct the user
to the appropriate industry or commodity-specific NFPA standard for additional requirements.
1.3 Application.
1.3.1 The provisions of this standard shall be applied in accordance with Figure 1.3.1.
